Damen and International working together on Royal Netherlands Navy vessels for 50 years

Damen and International have entered into an agreement for the supply of paints, coatings and technical support for the pre-treatment and preservation of the Combat Support Ship (CSS) for the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN).

The chosen anticorrosion products from International are aluminium-pigmented pure epoxy coatings that provide long-lasting protection. In addition, biocide-free anti-fouling coatings provide extra efficiency to the ship due to the reduced resistance of the hull through the water. The delivery of this scope for the CSS is to be spread over the entire duration of the project. As soon as coatings are required, they will be delivered immediately.

It is not the first time that Damen has collaborated with International. The collaboration dates back to the early 1970s. It is not only the ships built by Damen Naval that are supplied with the products of International; the other shipyards within the Damen Shipyards Group worldwide are also supplied with these high-quality products.

International is one of the largest manufacturers of high-quality marine coatings. It is part of AkzoNobel, with 33,500 employees worldwide and headquarters in Amsterdam. Production in the Netherlands takes place in Sassenheim, Groot-Ammers (near Schoonhoven) and Wapenveld (near Zwolle). International thus offers employment to 50 employees in the Netherlands. International’s European Regional Distribution Center (RDC) is located in Venlo. Worldwide, International has eighteen factories, four laboratories and six RDCs, serving more than 500 ports around the world.
