Damen signs new contract with Dutch supplier for Combat Support Ship

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) and Dräger Nederland have signed a contract for medical piping, including area control unit, for the new Combat Support Ship (CSS) for the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN). The CSS will be equipped with a hospital for which Dräger will supply, install and commission the distribution pipes for the medical gases. The first pipes will be installed in the first quarter of 2023.

Dräger Nederland, based in Zoetermeer and Hoogvliet with 444 employees, supplies medical and safety equipment, including ventilation and anaesthesia machines, respiratory protection and gas detection, for various markets, from shipping to healthcare, industry and emergency services.

DSNS and Dräger Nederland have been working together for decades on ships for the RNLN, including the four Holland-class patrol ships, the Joint Support Ship HNLMS Karel Doorman, and the amphibious transport ships HNLMS Rotterdam and HNLMS Johan de Witt. For these ships, Dräger Nederland has supplied the facilities for medical gases and gas detection and the company will remain involved in the maintenance of these systems.

Besides DSNS, Dräger Nederland collaborates with other Damen companies, including Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (on, for example, the renovation of OceanXplorer), Damen Yachting (expedition yacht Damen SeaXplorer 77) and Damen Workboats.
