DSNS and DMI sign Letters of Intent on joint development and innovation topics Data Science and Extended Reality for Naval Vessels

On June 26th, the Royal Netherlands Navy (Director DMI, Commodore Peter Knipping) and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (Director Products and Proposals, Jean Paul Claassen) signed two Letters of Intent (LoI) to state their mutual commitment, to jointly develop and innovate on the topics Data Science and Extended Reality (XR) applications of Naval Vessels.

At the Naval facilities in Den Helder, the Royal Netherlands Navy and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding both underlined the importance of data science and XR by signing these LoI’s to innovate together on these topics. The applications of these innovative techniques are unparalleled and both parties believe that the application on naval ships can have great future value. The commitment shown by both parties stresses their strong believe in more structural cooperation to accelerate innovations. The potential of these innovative solutions could very well mark a new era in the fields of maintenance and training.
