Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) has signed a contract with Ultrafog for supplying a high-pressure water mist fire extinguishing system for the Royal Netherlands Navy’s (RNLN) Combat Support Ship (CSS). Ultrafog is exclusively represented in the Netherlands by Technoship, a specialised supplier to the maritime industries for nearly 50 years and an active member of the Netherlands Maritime Technology trade association. Technoship, based in Apeldoorn, will play a major part in the project management of the contract. The equipment supplied by Ultrafog will be delivered in the second half of 2021.
Technoship/Ultrafog is specialised in providing fire suppression solutions for marine industries. The company’s high-pressure water mist fire extinguishing system is uniquely efficient and widely recognised as the world’s most efficient system on the market. Its application is relied upon in the maritime world on board naval vessels, cruise ships, mega-yachts and in the offshore industry, as well as onshore applications in industry and transport.
Damen’s cooperation with Technoship/Ultrafog started in 2008, when the company was awarded the contract for the supply of a water mist fire extinguishing system for the RNLN’s Ocean-Going Patrol Vessels of the Holland Class. Since then, Technoship/Ultrafog has collaborated with DSNS on numerous projects, such as the RNLN’s Joint Support Ship (JSS) Karel Doorman, the Australian Antarctic Supply Research Vessel RSV Nuyina for the Australian Antarctic Division and the Nigerian Navy’s roll-on-roll-off landing craft.
