Veterans exhibition opened at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding

This Saturday we will celebrate Dutch Veterans Day. The traditional highlight of the day will be the National parade in The Hague with more than 5000 veterans and military personnel participating. In Vlissingen there is a small exhibition to get to know more about military presence of the Netherlands worldwide. Personal stories from multiple veterans, serving for peace, are told by two large displays and with the presentation of some videos. The exhibition was opened today in the hall of the main building of DSNS and is open to the public.

DSNS highly values the recognition and appreciation of the military service of our veterans. Even amongst its personnel there are multiple veterans. Donating attention to our veterans is only one example of social activities that are undertaken by the Damen companies in Vlissingen. Noticeable is that the five companies (next to DSNS these are: Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen, Damen Schelde Marine Services, Damen Schelde Gears and Amels) already have jobs for a little less than 900, depending on circumstances, man and women. Also there are close collaborations with schools and universities (for example the HZ University of Applied Sciences and the TU Delft) and local sports and cultural events are sponsored.

More information about the history and the activities of the Damen companies in Vlissingen can be found in our brochure which you can download here. (Dutch only)

NB: The exhibition (in Dutch only) is open to the public in the hall of the main building of Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding from Monday June 19 until Friday June 30. The office address is De Willem Ruysstraat 99 in Vlissingen and can be visited on working days from 9:00 till 17:00.
